Volunteering gives people a chance to work on projects that are of value to the community. For someone just retired, it can provide an opportunity to spend time doing something they enjoy. A part time worker may value the opportunity to mix with others in the community.
In Bishop Auckland, one of the most amazing volunteering opportunities came in 2015. Then the 11 Arches Charity started recruiting volunteers for a night show we now know as Kynren. Around 1,000 people volunteered and in 2016, they put on 19 shows that played to a total audience of about 110,000 people! Since then over 250,000 have seen the spectacular volunteer show over 4 years.
